Not that many people care, as I'm the only shaman and won't spec enhance much, but I enjoy sharing the news because of the new way they're making Enhancement. I doubt you'll read my wall of text, but hey, if you're bored, why not. I'm looking forward to all this stuff.
Currently, as an enhancement shaman, you get two slow weapons, put windfury on them both, and use Stormstrike ( Instant attack with both weapons, increases the next 2 nature damage spells by 20%, TEN second cooldown) and earthshock (nature) or frostshockm both SIX second cooldowns.. That's about it... lots of standing around
Just earlier today Koraa announced a new skill.
- New Talent (Tier-8) - Lava Lash: You charge your off-hand weapon with lava, instantly dealing 75% off-hand Weapon damage. Damage is increased by 25% if your off-hand weapon is enchanted with Flametongue. 3 second cooldown. 4% base mana cost. (Also note: Lava Lash does Fire damage, also procs Maelstrom Weapon)
In addition, Stormstrike now increases the damage of you next 2 fire, frost, or nature damage spells. Also, improved stormstrike makes this 4 charges, 8s cooldown.
Lava Lash will proc off of that 20% damage boost, doing more damage. Plus, it seems more beneficial with this skill to do WF / Flame tounge instead of WF/WF on your weapons, which also means its more beneficial to get a FAST offhand now. Also, Flametounge adds spellpower now for elemental shamans... Spell power that adds to your flameshock and lava burst as enhancement too!
In addition to all of this is Maelstrom weapons... Basically with the talent at 5/5, after 5 crits you will be able to cast an instant cast lightning bolt, chain lightning, lava burst, or healing wave. Lava burst is instant-crit with Flameshock on.
ALSO, Lava bursts damage was boosted ( Apparently it's been so weak that it's not even worth using), plus elemental had talents switched just like warlock, allowing enhancement shammies to get a talent that increases the crit damage of spells by 100% ( Crits will do 200% instead of 150% )
What this means is, the new playstyle, unlike above, will be something like...
WF / FT, Slow / Fast. Stormstrike, putting on all 4 charges. Flameshock to eat one. Lava Lash to eat another. Continue to melee, lava lash after another 3 seconds, hoping for more crits. When you get enough, instant cast lava-burst, which will be instant-crit, a crit that does 2x damage instead of 1.5x, plus it'll be 20% stronger thanks to 1 charge still on stormstrike. Re-apply SS, and re-do.
Just speculation, but that's the way I see it, which means enhancement is now a BATTLE CASTER, through and through. Still earthshocking and frostshocking when needed, but otherwise they'll be casting flameshock / lavaburst while SS / Lava lash and meleeing / WF procs / FT procs. They'll benefit from melee buffs ( crit, attack power, haste) and caster buffs ( spell crit, spell power. )
I'm looking forward to the changes. Although a lot of them are not very viable for PvP, it still sounds really fun. Ohh yeah, and the spirit wolves got buffed so their damage scales, but with no videos or anything of it yet I don't know if they'll still be doing a WHOPPING 80 damage...
To end this, I know I probably won't play Enhancement much, but I like to play the Shaman in general. I don't like JUSt the Resto shaman, so when changes come for all specs it's enjoyable to hear. Because I could go on a rant about how Resto just recently got NERFED, but no, I looked at the good side today.
