CES 2010. You guys have till October 1 to sign up. I would sign up regardless even if you were just on the fence about going. CES is a closed convention, you can't attend unless you're part of Press or a company within the industry.
If you sign up before Oct 1 you get in for FREE plus you do not need to be part of Press or a Company. I'm definitely signing Kendra up just incase I'm able to go in 2010 if Kendra is able to make it then she'll be able to walk the convention with myself and Brent unlike last time. The ultimate pass is over 1000 dollars and it includes one-on-ones with industry leaders. I got to meet the CEO of Sharp, the creator of the SanDisk...etc. I believe if you sign up before Oct 1 you can go to a bunch of the keynotes/super sessions for free too.
This convention is HUGE, even walking 8hrs straight I was unable to see everything during the 5 days I was there. Plus you get the benefit of being in Vegas and checking out all the free sites and events.
During CES the hotels dip down into major discounts, the rooms are fairly cheap for being on the strip. We were in Treasure Island paying 250 a night and I chose the luxury suite. I believe the Mirage and the Hilton, etc were around the same price per night. But you can definitely stay at a place off the strip for a lot cheaper.
Airfare was fairly low, around 275-300 when I went, we had to stop in Atlanta then fly out to Vegas and that was with a ticket I bought the week before going. I'd imagine you could get something a lot better if you started checking prices now and locked in a ticket during satisfactory price point.
The other cool thing (I didn't get to do, I was there on business) was the Porn Convention is in the same building and at the same time as CES. It's the CES for Porn...looks just like CES except instead of consumer media like TVs and stuff you're looking at Symbians and sex utlities. They also do the Porno awards and stuff. Your fairshare of scrub celebs attend the Porno convetion. I think entrance was 75 bucks per person, not that bad if you want to meet Shyla Styles in person or Tera Patrick.
So check it out, cesweb.org register. There is no penalty if you decide not to show up.
