I am going to purchase a 15" MacBook Pro...but, the problem I am facing is either to get matte or the standard glossy. Second problem - AAFES online only carries the standard...but, no taxes and etc.
Can ANYONE with a camera and lives near an Apple store simply take a picture for me of a matte screen (either 17" or 15"...)? And can you let me know if it is grainy? I know the previous MBPs had a grainy problem.
I would really appreciate the help...

Hey Billy...Question. How did you feel about the 1440 by 900 resolution (since you did own one)? Josh don't you have a 15" MBP also? I know those models also have 1440 by 900. How is it playing games and etc? I am afraid to go to 17" ...even though its really only one pound heavier and roughly an inch more all around the laptop vs the 15". I know that despite the higher resolution - the text and everything else on a laptop screen being so small can be annoying at times.
Thoughts?

I'm so tempted to go the 17" route...as it has the added usb, extra fan inside the closure, expresscard slot...and only a 100 bucks or so more than the high end 15"...but, ugh...i'm not sure...

Yay? *shrugs* That means I can't buy REAL bellbottom jeans anymore...they are expensive as shit here in Germany. I bought three - a little over a hundred bucks each. Anyways - which do you prefer from those pics? Matte or Glossy?

Alright guys serious time... EPP Store 15" MBP/Matte $2,161.00
EPP Store 17" MBP/Matte $2,345.00
Price difference: $135
AAFES 17" MBP/Glossy $2,299 (no taxes)
15" 0.95 x 14.35 x 9.82 inches 5.5 pounds Two USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire 800 port, one SD card slot 1440 x 900 resolution
17" 0.98 x 15.47 x 10.51 inches 2.99 kg Three USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire 800 port, one ExpressCard/34 slot 1920 x 1200 resolution
Please help me make a decision. This is killing me. I am going to be getting an iPhone 3GS and my MBP next Monday... I know some of you guys don't like Apple, but I do. Yes I know I can get a much cheaper pc model for components and etc, but again I enjoy OSX. This will be serving as my desktop replacement as Leticia and my kids took over my custom built desktop. The differences between 15" and 17" are smaller this generation due to unibody build design.
You guys are a better resource for opinion as you guys are neutral and I actually appreciate your opinions majority of the time.

Honestly dude, seeing as though we're not the ones spending 2k+ on an apple product, this is totally your decision.
That said, I, myself, would prefer the matte as opposed to the glossy because of the glare. Glossy screens can create a bad glare. However, I think the glossy looks nicer. Just my $0.02.

And get the 17" as opposed to the 15". Ask any woman, 2" can make a big difference.
AMIRITE!?!? Kocurek knows all too well this problem. LAWLZUP

I like glossy. Brighter screen, colors are more vibrant looking.
You do have to deal with reflections, I don't have issues with glare as even matte deals with glare in direct light.
Matte definitely has reduced to zero reflections though.
For general purposes, I always choose gloss...looks nicer...brighter...vibrant.
But if you're working, gaming, you're not really going to notice a difference between the two after you adjust. You can't really go wrong with either. If you plan to work in direct light and have a hard time ignoring your reflection when dark objects are on screen go with Matte. If you like the look, vibrant pictures, bright whites/colors, go with Gloss.

The only experience I have is with my MBP, which is Matte. I like it lots, but when you look at the prices, I would choose the 17" Glossy MBP from AAFEES with no tax. That money saved can go towards accessories and casing, which are very important, so dont underplay those.
