Okay folks...need some feedback on this.
So, Alan got me thinking this weekend when he made a FB group for our Vacation next year. He is right, we ALL have seemed to evolved in our web use, and spent alot of time on Facebook.
This makes perfect sense since ALL of our friends, outside the Bravehearts, are there.
I would like to suggest we take the boards and evolve it into a Facebook Group. Here are a few reasons why:
1) As stated above, we all spend A LOT more time on Facebook compared to this website.
2) Facebook provides everything a forum does. It has a discussion section / wall which is pretty much this forum in a nutshell. We can embed VIDEOS. We have a photo album for PICTURES. We can share LINKS like we do with everything now.
3) Facebook provides MORE than this forum does. With a group intact, we can actually make events with times, RSVPs, and notifications. Something as big as the summer vacation or as small as a weekend get together. You can throw it on the group, set a time, people can sign up and talk about it.
4) Facebook sends notifications. All of the above, especially events, can send notifications via email or just when you login, letting you know that something has occured. Beats checking this place a few times a day wondering if anything has changed.
A few extras include, the ability to access it from our mobile phones (access this from a browser ona phone sucks). Also, Facebook has some pretty sweet widgets we can embed on the page.
So I know Joe made a Bravehearts group a long time ago that most of us belong to:
www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=114300726789&ref=ts
If we can get him to make us admins, definitely make it a private group, and then we can customize from there. By making it private, people cant spy on us, plus our status updates wont show the million things we post and talk about. I think thats optional.
If we cant get a hold of him today, I can always just make a new one and invite all of us to that.
So what do you say? Wana give it a shot? At least a week or two?
