In celebration of the release of the latest in the Zelda Franchise, I figured I would get a quick census of everyone's favorite Zelda game in the franchise. Which one hold the biggest place in your heart? What are some of your most memorable moments in Zelda history? Accomplishments? Failures?

FavoriteThe Zelda franchise is such a great one that it is a tough choice. If I had to pick though, I would go with Ocarina of Time. My first dive into the 3D realm with Link left a very memorable experience. For it's time, it was the game that MADE N64 fun to play. The storyline was very deep and long as hell. It was one of those games I didnt mind investing hours and hours into collecting all the Gold Spiders for extra bombs and a bigger ruby sack ^_^ To to mention, besides Twilight Princess, it has one of the best boss battles in the history of the series. Memorable MomentsI remember the first time I fought the magician boss in A Link to the Past, the one right before the alternate world, and you had to knock back his own attacks to weaken him. That was one of the first encounters of that kind and this was back in the day of no gamefaqs. It was a blast. I've said it before and I will say it again, if you have not done the 4-Part battle against Ganon in Twilight Princess, you NEED to. It's my favorite boss battle in any game, ever. And i've seen alot of boss battles One more memorable moment was getting the Roc Feather in Link's Awakening and being able to jump at will. AccomplishmentsEven after 10+ years of not playing it, I was able to pick up The Legend of Zelda on the virtual console and find the first 4 dungeons with no help. The ones after that though, required a trip to Gamefaqs ^_^ I have also gotten every heart container (and quarter heart containers) in A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. FailuresI never beat Windwaker....gasp! In fact...I only played like 2 hours of it. T_T I am ashamed. Also, I never beat The Adventures of Link, though I have gotten VEEERY close to the end.

I didn't vote. Why? Because I can't choose between Windwaker and Zelda: TP.
I'm not on the Ocarina of time bandwagon. Amazing game for sure, for its time.
But, Ocarina of time definitely feels old. It's grainy, blurred, etc. In short it shows its time with each passing year.
WINDWAKER looks like a cartoon and cartoons as a art style do not "show" their age easily. Sure cartoons of old have a "overall film quality" shortcoming to them , like Speed Racer, or you can pick up the common sound fx for their time, Hanah Barbara cartoons, but gems like Dragon Ball with little Son Goku is timeless and in many cases just as advanced graphically and sound quality as any new anime. Cartoons given equal "stock film" quality fall under "art style" and cannot be compared to real life. They become preferential and timeless.
Most of our 3-D games are reaching for REAL life like graphics and because of it we can compare them to "real life" and can establish quality differences between 3-D games in regards to how real they look.
I pick up Windwaker even now and I just feel like I'm playing a fun cartoon. I hate the long time sinks with the sea travel but sound wise, action wise, puzzle wise, it's a legendary game. Because it's cell shaded it doesn't have the same "performance/last gen graphics" issues with all 3-D games. I can't compare Windwaker to real life, because Windwaker doesn't attempt to mimic real life. 20yrs from now I'll be able to play Windwaker and still enjoy the fun cartoon graphics.
Zelda: TP in 5yrs will look old, but it did everything Ocarina would have done if the hardware was there for it. Zelda: TP is really updated Ocarina to me. To some people that was a disappointment, to me, I found it refreshing.
