So I noticed the poll I put up yesterday got a total of 20 views. Granted, 5 were probably myself, but that leaves 15 to the rest of the community. Yet...no one responded. As simple as it would have been to click an choice and then submit, not once seemed to do that. That is ONE extra click from the "back" button you clicked to leave the page.
There is no pressure to answer the questions the way I did. I try to make the topics as fun as possible (I know the Bryan Adams one was offbeat).
Is there a reason so many will read it but not take the time to answer? Are the questions not interesting enough? Are the choices on the poll never ones you would pick? Do you think you could do better?
I am just curious. Even though we are all friends, we are still a community on this board and that means some participation and input is needed in order to keep this thing going. We can only continue to post Digg stories so much, so when someone takes the time out of their day to post something original (AKA not just a link to a story on the net), it would be considerate if some people just participated.
If the topics are boring and stupid, say so. Perhaps some suggestions would help to.
"I know...I know...QQ MOAR PLS!!!" <--- I will say it so none of you have to.

Now that I think about it...and look at some of the past polls...perhaps we should get rid of the "poll" portion all together and just keep it open ended. I mean, having the poll is a good way to visualize who agrees with what, and also keeps the answers from being unlimited, but perhaps by not giving options to choose from, people will participate more. Just simply asking "Whats your favorite RPG Robot" may have done it. Instead of having to choose from a limited group. Is that it?

Or just accept the fact people might not be interested enough to care. T_T
Lots of people put stuff up and get zero replies despite the viewings. I wouldn't nuke the polls option despite one or two unused threads that get passed over.

I see that you selected the "I'm a douchebag" option. That seems to fit you well these days.
There is a difference between contributing to a story or a YTMND that everyone has probably already seen that day and took zero effort whatsoever to post, and a poll created just to spark conversation. The same type of conversation that could happen on ventrillo without any problems.
Perhaps I should have posted more "If Zombies Attacked the Earth" theories.
There a difference between blowing things out of proportion and asking for feedback because you dont know if you are posting shit people dont like or if the people are the ones that are the problem.
Thanks for contributing though! That wasnt so hard now, was it? ^_^

I'm going to put on my Freud cap and nail the issue here.
You who spends so much time making these polls/ideas/games for us feels let down and unappreciated when we "the masses" disregard your earnest hard work.
So now everyone who doesn't "agree" with you is a "douchebag" and a "selfish bad guy" right?
We all don't have the same opinions, interests, or most important time. It's one thing to see something funny and post it. It's another to look at a poll over Zelda or video games, think about it, and go "sure this is worth 5mins of my time".
You're not our entertainment. This forum isn't a requirement. If people don't respond then you can assume 99% of the time they aren't interested, are multi-tasking, or your poll/post is #10 on that list of "newest post". Just give folks the benefit of the doubt, maybe SOMETHING came up while they were going to post a reply.
If I were you, I'd try to not take it so personally, people die from strokes due to that.

For he whom is too busy...you sure have enough time to post now. Where was all of this "free time" before? Oh well...I guess I was just expecting something different from all of this, that is all. I sometimes seem to forget who my audience is.

I've been sick and while at work I have time to post now.
Ever noticed we're the ONLY ones posting regularly, we also happen to be the only people able to bullshit around at work enough to post stuff on this forum.

^^ That said, I'd agree, or what Israel likes to deem my "greatest" function, and co-sign with him. Most of the time I do take the opportunity to read the poll and answer after a period of brief, but substantial thought. BUT, more often than not I'm too immersed with what I'm doing to take another 5 minutes to think of a logical, coherent, and detailed response to a lot of the open ended questions. It doesn't mean I won't respond, or that I don't want to, it just means that at that current moment I may be pressed for time and will respond later. Sure, it's reasonable to assume I may forget to ever respond, but it does not preclude the fact that I still read the post and give it some thought. I wouldn't take it hard bro, we've all got shit to do; some more than others. We all don't have the luxury to sit on the internet and ponder which Zelda game is the best "evar". I'm not attacking you work, just stating that the majority of time you tend to have more time to think and post good questions, thoughts, and/or ideas. Don't get upset if it takes awhile for the rest of us to respond. P.S. I <3 Ocarina of time over the original Zelda's, seeing as though I sucked at the older ones when I was younger. Love, Raenen lawl P.S.S. For some reason that picture stays up for about 5-10 minutes and then doesn't show up. No clue why, I'm just /img it from whatever JPG it is online. I'll keep trying to keep it up, but for those who are interested if they can't see it... here content.ytmnd.com/content/4/e/6/4e6f0b10979827f8ec6026c089e11ec4.jpgP.S.S.S. Disregard that last comment, I just hosted it via the guild photobucket page P.S.S.S.S yer all n00bz

I don't have the time at work to respond to half the stuff I would like to. Then when I am at home I am 99 percent of the time on WoW with all the "members" of the board... I agree with Israel...Posts take time and if you don't have the time to make a decent post then why take the time at all?! Now let's all just get along!!! lol Don't take everything personally, isn't that what you all use to tell me?!

Maybe it is really because every time Seraph decides to tell us how he feels he starts typing and doesn't stop for about an hour then it takes up so much on the top ten page no one makes it to the next post much less the one at the end of the page T_T...... Man you type A LOT for not having time you alone take up almost every post on the last ten.

Wow way to take everything completely out of context in your magnificent defense for your QQ boyfriend. Number one If you check dates, my activity on the forum was pretty much nonexistent for a day or so mostly because of my health, during that forum poll period. Number two that long article was a copy/paste from a Priest article for Kendra who can't view external links except this forum from her job as stated at the beginning of the post. Number three the "last 10" posts has little to do with individual "size" of each post. It will post the "last 10" even if each post is 1000 lines. Do yourself and favor and ignore anything I write in opinion of WoW. I mean hell you don't play it anyways. (Ouch). Number four if you read those long posts, especially the most recent one, you would have seen that long-long article wasn't from me or my thoughts/opinions. Number five, what does any of what you say have to do with the use of polls on this forum except to defend a lukewarm topic. AND last but not LEAST number 6, I never, stated I had no time. In fact I have shit loads of time while at work to do completely nothing. But just like many people don't use these POLLS some "people" don't read before posting. Depending on what time you view these forums it's very easy to step in during someone's off time. I happen to work around the lunch hours everyday, you view the forum during those times and you will see me taking up the top 10. That's just my small contribution. I don't have nearly the amount of "posts" (I'm at 171 and probably the lowest of the main group of people who view these forums) as a lot of people here. When I log on the forum, I see tons of Sanjitsu, Raenen, Kono because I pick up what they see/post in the evenings or early in the morning. QQ in your baby bed. P.S. I'm not mad (I gotta toss that out there, since apparently, I'm Mr. Tightpants with high blood pressure)

Yeah, Umm...I for one don't really have much time anymore. I'm out the door by 8ish and I'm normally at my job pretty late. Weds, when I met with my client I was at work from 8:30 am and finally made it home at 9 p.m. after closing the deal. Sure, there are computers at work and i could check the forums, but I'd rather be studying for my series 6 to make more monies. Besides, I do read the polls...But I think you forgot to add in the polls a "I don't know wtf this topic is about" or a simple "I don't like any of these". For instance, the Bryan adams poll...I know like 2 songs of his and none of them were up there and I really didn't care to discuss anything of Bryan Adams at the moment...It isn't a diss on you or the topic, I just didn't have anything to contribute about the matter. I mean, I posted something on the favorite RPG pet thing, but it was a small tidbit of information.
My advice, if you want a rouse out of people...Expand the polls from mere music and video games to something more life concerning. For instance, try a poll on "When do you want to retire" or "Where do you want to live in 10 years". You'll, hopefully, get more of an opinion out of everyone because everyone has those sort of aspirations. (I for one would love to move to Texas and retire by the time I'm 60-65 so I can travel around the world, with my retirement funded by a Roth IRA, Mutual Funds and 401K that my company matches a certain percentage) :oP
