So here is a new addiction of mine. I am a HUGE fan of Indie music and am well aware that there is a TON of potential out there in the music industry that never gets recognized. Thank God for the Internet, right? Well this new site called, www.thesixtyone.com/ seems to have just what it takes to make exploring and finding new music fun. They take an amazing web interface, complete with Ajax and Web 2.0 style interaction, they add every genre of music under the sun (from rap to dance), and top it off with an addictive RPG/Xbox live achievement-slash-leveling system that rewards you for "bumping" (ala digging) songs you like and just listening to music as well. As you "level up" you unlock more features, like the ability to "bump" songs multiple times and create your own playlists. It's nothing extremely deep, but it does make listening to new music rather enjoyable. Since I like all genres, I usually go to the "whats hot" page and listen to everything on it (ranging from folk music to indie alternative). This site is definitely worth a look if you are tired of mainstream music, which I know I am. As a recommendation, I suggest you listen to my favorite song at the moment: Van She - Strangers www.thesixtyone.com/Uminski/#/VanShe/collection/collection_item/14720/?autoplay_songLet me know what you all think. If you make an account, be sure to add me as a friend. www.thesixtyone.com/koach
