Been reading on the forums with various people getting terrible FPS. Here's what I can see.
Both my laptop and my old desktop have the same video card...well the laptop has the 8800M GTS, PC has 8800GT G92
Kendra's laptop is just...well terrible when it comes to WAR, it's terrible with WoW so that's expected.
Clearly though you need dual core+ for WAR, I'm running at 1680X1050, AA 16 AF 16 with everything maxed out silky smooth. In fact it runs consistently better than WoW strangely enough.
I definitely get some FPS drop in RVR but I play an SM and nature's blade is definitely on the outrageous side, with Wrath of Hoeth, I hit everyone (no limit) within 30yrds AOE. Nature's Blade 25% chance to proc on hit. AoE 15 guys, and an entire team is getting debuffed 48 stat points from each stat and boosting me 48 stats in everything. Anyways the proc animation is fairly intense but even then I can play it and FPS probably drops down to 20FPS in that situation.
So I know alan mentioned low FPS, granted all his specs are lower than my laptop, (P4 2.4 / 8600GTS right?)
Some people with way better specs than my laptop are getting 10 fps. That said the difference in performance between my laptop and the desktop are night and day. Changing the settings on the desktop barely does anything for the FPS so it's definitely leading to a coding issue which means patching and soon to be better game for you guys with issues.
My suggestion if you need to upgrade anything (Alan, Kendra) dump the P4 and go dual core, it's about time you did anyways.
I'll probably quick fix my desktop, the video card is still great for today's games, i'll just get a new mobo and a dual core processor and call it done.
Anyways can't wait to get home and play some more. I haven't had this much overall fun in an MMO since...hmm...AC2!
