Mythic has made it clear Core is their focus.
I love Open RVR, being able to kill the opposition whenever you see them is great. Which is funny because I hated PvP servers in WoW. It was full of ganking and the way the world is built you really had no defense.
In Warhammer, if you can make it to an outpost you're saved. Plus the way the whole system is built is much better.
My concern and it's something I did not know prior to going Open RVR. From my understanding I thought you got chickened if you went to the opposition's side in a Tier 2 or 1 area if you were level 40. But it seems you're chickened EVERYWHERE in Tier 1 and 2. So some lairs are in Tier 1 but were made for level 40s. Yet level 40s can't get there due to being a chicken. Also quest you didn't complete...you can't do in ORVR due to the chicken.
Core server T4 is 90% ORVR from my understanding. So at end game all servers behave like an ORVR server, except you gain the benefit of walking around all the tiers without being chickened.
Massive pros/cons. On one hand you get to own shit all the way up to 40. On the other hand once at 40 all servers stand equal except O RVR takes a hit in T1 and T2 content.
So far it hasn't been an issue at all. If you're level 31 you can go to all the Tiers, once you hit 32 you're chickened in T2, but you have full reign in T3/T4. T3 would be your low to mid 20s and all the way up to your 30s. Basically you could seriously gank some fools at level 40 still. A level 22 vs a 40....dead in seconds.
There has been talk of merging their abundant amount of servers to even out the balance of Order vs Chaos on some servers. Also possibly a one time transfer character to wherever type deal.
I have mixed feelings because ORVR feels more realistic in the context of the story/lore. It's Good vs Evil here unlike WoW. Plus the way the zones are built, the two sides are segregated for the most part.
I just can't imagine doing a PQ like in T2 dwarf and not being able to kill the destros in the PQ...it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The fun of it is killing them while killing orcs/gobs to advance your side's PQ to stage 2. Not being able to kill them just...eh, I dunno.
The best solution would be removing your ability to kill players in T1/T2 but allow you to kill the mobs. And I believe they just might do that in the end. And if that happens, ORVR will have the absolute best ruleset.
