So I did a bit of reading
Seems that I was doing things correctly. All I can do is guard a high threat member - Sanji or Chibbi or Elstara
Use Sunder or Precision Strike and use my taunts. In between I can hit my defensive skills with what little AP is left.
Problem.
Start of a fight, Sanji/Elstara do not need to heal much so threat is really just my own. Guard only gives me 33% of the threat
So here is the scenario that occurs every single time.
Chibbi pulls threat with his AoEs on targets I haven't focused on (no AP to spam sunder on everyone) - Sanji heals over time to keep Chibbi up. He then pulls threat. Guard splits the dmg between me and my guarded player by 50%. I actually get hit harder when Sanji gets hit than when I get hit. (Easily seen using Warhammer SCT). So then Sanji has to keep himself alive and me alive and it spirals into an idiotic mess with you guys killing the mobs before they kill us.
This will not happen later on. The reason tanks max out to 11k HP through stacking wounds is because bosses will dish out 4k-5k hits on a tank. You will be dead if you get hit or focused on - guaranteed. I've seen boss fight vids. These fights are all like patchwork. A single crit or two crits in a row = wipe. So Tanks stack Wounds and then stack initiative to lower crit chance as much as possible. It's kinda ridiculous how Lost Vale has these dudes teetering from 100% with block, block block block block parry and then bam down to 20% with a single hit.
So we gotta figure something out here. This isn't WoW, we have no omen and the mobs tend to stack on each other. When I get All out Assault things will get better but till then it's good practice to figure out your own threat meter and hit the target I'm hitting. Kinda like EQ2 and WoW back in the day.
Gray cons were hitting pretty hard (some of them atleast). I'd imagine Mt Gunbad is going to be much more difficult.
Anyways keep up the gay work. lol
